Curiosity seeds for turning the sounds your ears let slip by into questions
These cards turn things your ears let slip by, like echoes, thunder, and voices, into questions.
Copy one onto the Curiosity Quest sheet and you can listen closely and look things up side by side.
How it works
- Cut out the cards and pick the one sound question you're most curious about today.
- Copy that question onto the Curiosity Quest sheet and think back on what you've heard for yourself.
- Write down separately what you can check with your ears and what you'll need to look up.
- In the last space, note what you newly learned in simple words.
When · with whom
Good for children who are sensitive to sound, and also a nice fit when you want to hear the sounds you've always heard in a new way.
Sound curiosity seeds
- Why does a shout in the mountains come back to you?
- Why does my recorded voice sound so unfamiliar?
- Why is thunder heard later than lightning is seen?
- Why does a thinner string make a higher sound?
- Why does a snowy day feel so much quieter?
- Why does the sound change when you fill an empty bottle with water?
