Luksong Baka · A game of leaping over the crouching cow
A Filipino game where you plant your hands on a crouching “cow” and leap over it
This is Luksong Baka, a classic outdoor game of Filipino children. It means “jump over the cow.”
You plant your hands on the crouching cow and leap over, and the cow rises a little higher with each round. It's fun to use your whole body.
The sheet includes a picture of the game in action, the steps for playing, and a QR code for finding a video.
How it works
- The player who's “it” becomes the cow and crouches down low, and everyone else lines up.
- One at a time, plant both hands on the cow's back, spread your legs, and leap over.
- After each round, the cow rises a little higher, and whoever touches the cow becomes the next cow.
When · with whom
An active game for three or more. Soft grass or a mat is best.
