Old Days Interview with a Grown-Up
A sheet for writing down a grown-up's younger days
This is a sheet for asking your parents or grandparents about the old days and writing down exactly what you hear.
One opening question sits above the space where you write who told the story and what era it was from.
Below that, we left only lines for writing, so you can carry over the flavor of their words just as spoken, without tidying them up.
How it works
- Sit facing each other, and write the storyteller and their era on the lines at the top.
- Read the opening question aloud and ask them to tell the story.
- Listen without interrupting, then write down on the lines exactly what you heard.
- Once you've written it all down, read a passage back to them. Sometimes more stories come out.
When · with whom
This is an activity for two people sitting face to face. It suits days with plenty of time, like a holiday or a long-awaited visit.
