Mamba · A game with a snake that keeps getting longer
A snake game where every friend who gets caught joins the tail and the snake keeps growing
This is Mamba, a game played by children in South Africa. A “mamba” is a long snake that lives in Africa.
Anyone caught by the snake who's “it” joins its tail and becomes part of one body. The longer the snake grows, the more fun it is to move together.
The sheet includes a picture of the game in action, the steps for playing, and a QR code for finding a video.
How it works
- Mark the boundaries of the play area, and one player who's “it” becomes the mamba.
- Anyone who gets caught joins the mamba's tail and becomes part of the snake. Only the head at the very front can catch anyone.
- The last player left uncaught becomes the next mamba.
When · with whom
A lively game for six or more. Great for a big yard or gym class.
